There are several options for getting from area airports to Walt Disney World. If you are staying at a major hotel, there are often free shuttles that will pick you up. Other shuttles will cost you per person, and if you are traveling in a party of four, a taxi will probably be a better option. A taxi from the airport to the WDW hotels is about 43.00. Shuttle fair per person can be as much as $9.00 per person.

The bus system in Orlando is called Lynx (407) 841-8240 and operates 47 routes. Fares are $1.00 per ride (25 cents for seniors.) Bus #50 goes to Walt Disney World every two hours.

If you will be spending time exploring Orlando or areas outside of Walt Disney World, renting a car might be in order. You can find information on the Internet about Orlando area car rental companies at click here.

If you have car insurance on your automobile at home, most people recommend that you don't buy the insurance offered at the rental agency. Be warned: the rental agent will most likely be adamant that you purchase it, this is a big moneymaker for them.

Whatever mode of transportation you take, be aware of your surroundings and drive and walk safely. Orlando has a very high pedestrian and is number one in the country in pedestrian injuries and fatalities. You might be on vacation, but realize the rest of the world is still speeding around you.

Disney World Tips:: Buy 2 way radio with a 2 mile radius. Go to Walmart where they are $25.00 for 2. They work and come in very handy if you are going to split up with your group.
