Experiencing Epcot at Walt Disney World

Epcot stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow and appeals to the older children and all adults. Epcot is huge and will take at least 2 days to visit.

In The World Showcase you can visit various countries of the world, such as China, Germany, Norway and others. Children tire quickly of the tour, but adults w/out kids may enjoy a leisurely café au lait in France, or a beer in Germany. One way to keep the kids interested is to purchase a World Showcase Passport at Port of Entry and they can collect stamps and autographs of each country.

No one should miss the firework and laser show "IllumiNations." Find a seat around the lagoon about a half-hour before the show- but if you can't get there early, just look up. The Mexico or Canada pavilions are good for viewing and close to the exits if you are leaving afterward, otherwise plan to have a snack or browse the shops to avoid the mad crush of people exiting.

Epcot has some of the best restaurants at Disney World, and it is highly recommended to make reservations- up to 60 days in advance by calling 407-939-3463.

The 3D film Honey I Shrunk The Audience is a big hit and not to be missed.

Spaceship Earth is the 180-foot high round model of the earth that symbolizes Epcot. This ride is best taken on the way out of the park, if at all. Not a thrill ride, but a signature Disney monument.

Future World is teaches kids and adults about on-going technological advances and innovations. Innoventions is a futuristic arcade of virtual reality - showcasing newly invented Apple, IBM, Sega and other products. You or your kid can be the first to test a brand new Sega Genesis game before the market.
