Region: Adirondack Park

Stony Water, from its birth in the 19th century, has had a long history of hospitality. The present Italianate farmhouse was built around 1870. The spacious, well-stocked library, designed by well known Adirondack artist, Rockwell Kent, was added in the 1930's when the property was owned by literary figure Louis Untermeyer. Another of Untermeyer's close friends, Robert Frost, visited Stony Water often during the 1930's and 1940's. Bed and breakfast guest rooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible, are all furnished in antiques and have private baths.

The Adirondack High Peaks can provide quiet scenic beauty, spectacular fall foliage, hiking trails, canoeing, both Nordic and Alpine skiing, fishing, bicycling, and other seasonal activities. Stony Water B & B is located on 87 acres of fields and woodlands between two running brooks. Tucked in a quiet valley, this rural setting offers a relaxed, tranquil atmosphere.

Your Hosts: Sandra Murphy / Winifred Thomas
